Tuna Steak

ngredients

  • 2 tuna steaks (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley or dill, for garnish

Instructions

1. Prepare the Marinade:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

2. Marinate the Tuna:

  1. Place the tuna steaks in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Let the tuna marinate for at least 15 minutes (or up to 1 hour in the refrigerator).

3. Sear the Tuna:

  1. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add a tablespoon of olive oil.
  2. Once the oil is hot, place the tuna steaks in the pan. Sear the tuna for about 2-3 minutes per side for rare to medium-rare doneness, or cook longer for your preferred level of doneness.

4. Serve:

  1. Remove the tuna from the pan and let it rest for a few minutes.
  2. Slice the tuna steaks into thick slices and arrange on plates.
  3. Drizzle with any leftover marinade and garnish with fresh parsley or dill.

Optional Add-Ons:

  • Serve with a side of roasted vegetables or a fresh salad.
  • Add a drizzle of balsamic glaze for an extra layer of flavor.
